The Rancilio KRYO 65 OD commercial espresso bean grinder is built for excellence stability even in high use applications. It features several new Rancilio Lab innovations to increase every aspect of the machine.
The KRYO 65 utilizes a large low speed motor to turn the 64 mm (2.5") flat 100% steel burrs which can output 15 - 20 lb/hr (7 - 9 kg/h). The burrs are subjected to Thermosteel heat treatment to increase longevity. Engineered to prevent heat damage, the grinding chamber is fitted with a Rancilio Lab patented cooling chamber. Die-cast aluminum fins increase performance by dissipating heat built-up in the burrs, thus optimizing operating temperature and preserving coffee aromatics.
For coffee extraction, the KRYO self-centering portafilter holder for is mated to an improved dosing assembly and for hands-free operation. A clear LED Soft-Touch control panel provides the barista with easy control over the programmable single or double shot and the "custom" button. The addition of the custom button allows for continuous flow but can be set by the barista according to their specific needs.
The display shows grind progress and can also prompt a burr replacement reminder after a preset amount of coffee has been ground.
The bean hopper has been improved with shock-resistant food-grade polycarbonate and features a grey smoked appearance which reduces UV damage. The hopper has a bean shut-off for removal and the large 2.9 lb (1.3 kg) bean hopper can stand on its own to make refilling easier. Furthermore, the doser has an improved built-in tamper for ease of use.
To dial in the perfect shot the KYRO is fitting with macro and micro adjustments. First rotate the entire adjustment knob till the grind is in the espresso range and then fine tune the grind by rotating the orange grind adjustment knob.
Barista feedback puts the Rancilio KRYO on par with larger, more expensive grinders like the Mazzer Robur--doing the same job at a much reduced cost!
