    Good quality

I've had my new GAGGIA Classic for two months. I previously owned a much-loved SOLIS SL-70 which ran brilliantly for almost 11 years. Unfortunately, SOLIS no longer makes espresso machines, so that's how my hunt for a replacement began. I decided on this model because it allows you to enjoy espresso without buying a grinder. The delivery time is what you'd expect during the pre-Christmas rush. The unit arrived well-packaged and well-protected. The plastic tamper that comes with this unit isn't practical, so I'd recommend buying a proper tamper. I purchased the Rosewood Espresso Tamper 58 mm; and I love it. Works great with this machine. The description indicates the warm-up time is 6 minutes, however I find it takes longer, probably more like 10 minutes. I use the commercial-grade filter basket rather than the "perfect crema" filter with pin insert. The shot takes approximately 30 seconds and the pucks are surprisingly dry. I found the pannarello wand took some getting used to after using a more manual SOLIS for so long. The pannarello wand is practically "fool proof" and may seem a bit pedestrian, if not automatic, for those more experienced with manual frothing. Despite the froth being a little less than fine; it gets the job done. New owners should exercise care when cleaning the wand "unit" as there are 5 separate parts in there; some quite small (cap nut; 2 gaskets; inner wand and the frothing sleeve). Those should be handled slowly and carefully so as not to lose any of them. The unit is a higher-shine stainless steel and takes some effort to keep it looking spotless. The see-through water tank is a bonus; however, it too requires cleaning to remove water marks. The cup grill is also made of stainless steel and requires regular cleaning. The top of the unit does a decent job pre-heating cups. The filter holder is a pleasing weight that one would expect to find on more expensive units. I found it took several weeks to become fully fluent operating the GAGGIA. However, learning how to use and maintain this machine, like any machine, is worth the effort.

Thanks Espressotec for the super quick and top notch service! This machine does just what i need. Makes an excellent shot quickly without any hassle. If you don't have extra time to spare, this could be a good choice for you to fuel your addiction. Quick heat up and no fussing around. Built solid and feels like it will last. The first shot out of the machine was fantastic. Figure out your grind and tamp and you are set.

    Well built

I've used a hand-me-down Gran Gaggia for years so knew Gaggia was a reliable brand. The Gaggia Classic is a solid well built machine that looks fantastic. The commercial size porta-filter is nice when buying accessories. I use this with a Baratza Encore grinder as an affordable way to getting into brewing fantastic at home Espresso. After a 2 week trip in Italy, I've found this machine makes as good or better coffee as I enjoyed there. Espressotec also processed an delivered the order promptly, I would defiantly recommend them for getting the Gaggia Classic in Canada without having to import.

    Lovin it!

This is our first espresso machine and we are extremely pleased with the quality of flavour and how easy it is to use. We expect the Gaggia Classic to last us a long time and now we spend way less money on "special coffees" when we go out. A great investment, a quality machine.

    Great espresso

Posted by Ronald on 2013 Nov 3rd

Great espresso machine for the price. I've had this machine for about three years and it delivers constantly. I had to do one repair so far: change the steam valve. Easy to do yourself and a 35$ piece. Otherwise, it's built like a tank and delivers a great cup of espresso. The steam wand also works great. I don't use the pannarello that comes with it. I removed the large tip and frothed the milk with the inside small tip. I've upgraded the wand with the Rancilio Silva steam wand which works great.

I keep my coffee machine scale free by using a resin filter on the water intake. Works great!
