Description

Evolved from and improved on the Maestro Plus generation, the Baratza Encore boasts 40 individual grind settings ranging from medium-fine to coarse. Though not ideal for espresso, it’s great for many of the most popular brew methods such as Chemex, pour over, siphon, Espro Press, Aeropress and more. Its 40mm hardened steel conical burrs are driven by a powerful 240-watt DC motor, connected by Baratza’s second generation adjustable gearbox. Both the 8-ounce bean hopper and the 5-ounce grounds bin are coated to reduce static build-up and exposure to UV rays. Operating this small but sturdy grinder is as easy as turning the on/off switch on its side or pressing the Grind-On-Demand pulse button on its front.

    Baratza Encore Coffee Grinder

Posted by Dugald Nasmith on 2019 Feb 28th

I bought this about a month ago as a second grinder. My other grinder is a Baratza Virtuoso Preciso (6 years-old) which is used exclusively with my espresso machine. Although the Encore is possibly overkill for its use in my kitchen, I decided to spend the extra money because of my satisfaction with my Virtuoso and the customer support at Baratza.
So far (about 1 month), the Encore is performing flawlessly. It took a few times for me to get used to the simple On-Off switch rather than a timer switch but other than that, there have been no surprises. I would agree with the description that this probably won't give a satisfactory grind for espresso but, if that isn't a requirement, I think this grinder is a good value.
Also, if you have never made a purchase from esspresotec.com, I've had nothing but good experiences on numerous occasions over the last 6 years; the sales people that I've talked to have always given good advice and the service staff have been very helpful in sorting out a problem over the phone (l don't live nearby).

    Great Grinder!

Posted by Adam Wiggins on 2018 Aug 20th

We had a fantastic experience with the Expressotec staff. After reading other reviews on the Baratza grinder and considering the advice of the Espressotec staff we concluded this was the best grinder for us. We've had it a week and it's grinding beans the way we hoped for. Great machine + great experience!

    Perfect!!

The grinder is popular in Japan and I found lots of good reputations of it.
Easy to adjust fine or coarse, easy to clean up, etc.
    Good for latte arts.

    Great grinder

Works very well. Does leave coffee grinds on the counter. Espressotec provided amazing service and the grinder arrived very quickly and well packaged.

    Just right...

For me, this is the Goldilocks of coffee grinders. It's not the cheapest grinder out there (been there, over that), nor is it the most expensive (I'm not selling cups of coffee!) -- it hits that sweet spot of performance at a reasonable cost. Assuming it lasts as promised, I'll consider this a very successful investment.

Oh, and service from Espressotec was great. All questions answered promptly, delivered efficiently, etc.

    Encore Coffee Grinder

Posted by Rayna Corner on 2016 Dec 22nd

Bought this grinder on the advice of a couple of friends who are coffee professionals. Extremely easy to use, and found just the right setting for the Saeco Aroma (also purchased from Espressotec- awesome buy!) with just a couple of test grinds. Excellent grinder for home use- highly recommend for delicious fresh consistent coffee.

    Works for me

Posted by David on 2015 Aug 23rd

Very happy overall. Seems a bit noisier than the Virtuoso I was used to and quite slow on the finer grinds <7. But I find 9 works just fine for shots and gave the machine 5's
