The Espresso Colour is elegantly designed by Gaggia's trendy design engineers. The unit is lightweight with its heavy gauge thermoset ABS and it also takes up very little counter space with its small foot print.
 
Internally, the Gaggia Espresso uses a powerful 1100-watt boiler element that heats the machine up in only 90 seconds. This powerful boiler also creates unsurpassed steam power for frothing your milk. A key benefit of the boiler is that the dual elements are on the outside of the boiler and they never touch the water, reducing the harmful effects of using hard water. Furthermore, the Gaggia Espresso is all business with its heavy-duty 58mm grouphead and solid brass portafilter handle.
 
Steaming: Besides having outstanding steam pressure that only takes about 90 seconds to build, the Gaggia Espresso's steam wand is on a ball joint that allows it to move in every direction making it easy to fit larger milk frothing pitchers. The Gaggia Espresso also comes equipped with a pannarello frother that easily creates hot frothy milk.
 
Brewing: To brew, simply dispense 7 grams of ground coffee into the single basket (or 14 grams into the double basket), tamp, and lock your portafilter handle into the grouphead. Then click the brew button to start the powerful 15 bar Ulka pump. A 1.5 oz espresso should only take 17-23 seconds to pour out. Once you are done brewing, remove your handle and dispense the grounds into a knockbox.
 
Using Pods: You can easily use pods on the Gaggia Espresso since it comes pod-ready from the factory. To use a pod, simply use the pod basket and put it into your portafilter handle, place a pod of coffee in, then click the brew button after you lock in your portafilter handle into the grouphead. Even though pods are more expensive than ground coffee, they are much cleaner and can give very consistent results since there is no tamping involved. Also, many pods are individually sealed giving them longer shelf lives.
 
Hot Water: The Gaggia Espresso can also dispense hot water for Americanos, hot chocolates, teas, soups, etc. To pour hot water, simply open the steam wand, click the brew button, and hot water will pour out of your steam wand.
 
The Gaggia Espresso is very easy to operate and maintain. The large 42 oz water tank can be filled from above or easily pulled out with the handle and filled at the sink. The drip tray also slides out effortlessly for cleaning. To clean the pannarello frother, wipe it down after each use and soak in it warm water at the end of the day to remove any milk residue.
 
The Gaggia Espresso is all Gaggia performance packed into a very stylish, compact body. It uses separate thermostats to control boiler temperature. There is also a replaceable thermal fuse that protects your boiler in the event that it overheats.
